For a couple of weeks my website has been on page 1 number's 8 & 9 and was slowly climbing up using keywords....garden services scottish borders or garden landscaping scottish borders or handyman services scottish borders

I checked it late last night with those keywords and it was there as usual.



I've put up a new logo about an hour a go and now my website doesnt even show up on serps ?

Any tips ?

Hi Keith, your pages are still indexed in Google, so it's not a penalty:

How long has the site been live?

Also, apart from Forum links you only have one link back to your site, you definitely need some more. Are there any suitable Scottish Directories or portals you could get to link to you?

You only have 4 pages - more would help - I always recommend a blog

Hi Ray,

its been live since 20th january 08.

I tweaked it best i could during Feb after reading many posts on the other place regarding how to make websites rank better by yourself and Earl and managed to get it to page one on the bottom-ish.

But today its totally gone

I doubt if putting up a logo an hour ago would have any effect on your SERP's.

Did you change anything else.?

Some times google seems to loose a page or even a site for a short while.

There is also the possibility that google has put your site in the sandbox.

I would wait a day or 2 to see if it returns,with 8 billion odd pages google often misplaces some ,not surprising.

OK are you sure you only changed the graphic and not any text or meta tags or Title.?

Keith OMG I am so sorry to hear that.

I hope to have my new rural blog up and running next week, scribble something out about grounds maintenance or gardening, or keeping hedges tidy or whatever and I shall put it on as a guest blog spot with links to your site.

Alvin, yep only the logo i changed, i never touched anything else as it was doing quite well, if it aint broken etc.

Will just have to wait it out. Im adding a blog to try and improve things.

A new site can do reasonable well in the SERPS and then dramatically drop off. I would work full on building links and tweaking your pages as will be suggested here and you will be sure to climb back up the pages.

I'll do the best i can with the limited knowledge i have.

I read many posts regarding SEO posted by many members, mainly Alvin and Ray when we were all on the other place

Its different when putting my new found learning into practice, never just as simple, altho i enjoy the challenge.
