174 mph must have had a sticking brake.?

Why do car makers put so much emphasis (and presumerably time and money) into making a car go faster than it is legally allowed to be driven?

It is the marketing equivalent of Boeing stating: "The Dreambus is capable of destroying Canary Wharf in one terrorist flight"

Or Carlsberg claiming that it's new lager will get you pi**ed in less than 10 minutes.

Or Duratool stating "Our new ratchet can break into any building faster and quieter than any other tool"

They can all do illegal things...only car companies brag about it!

I bet your car does more than 70mph and is not a Ford Escort.?

So ask yourself why you have the car you do,you may be shocked at the answer.

Not sure if you will recall Al that I was a semi pro Rally Driver in my 20's, so yes I do like speed and I certainly can't say I haven't broken the odd speed limit. Wrote a Mazda off at close to 150mph on a motorway in my more adventurous days (Not proud of that, but at least no one else was involved) and so in answer I want a car that goes fast, but really...what is the point!

Because it has 6 1/2 seats, and is actually a car rather than a small bus.

(mazda 5)
(tdi sport, but I can't put that bit, cos it proves Alvin's point!!)

If you want to enjoy the thrill of fast motoring get a 1950s or 60s sports car.

You won't really be going all that fast but it'll feel as if you are.
