Something a bit new here. I want to give special thanks to someone that is NOT a direct member of A1BF.
I have been rushed off my feet today (whats new). A design for a client was due today to be used as an advert for a trade publication. I said to them that Friday is a day when we are out on business so lets bring the deadline to Thursday ie last night. This was fine.
The design was finalised at 11.30pm last night. Called the client this morning during my travels and was told that there was a slight error. However minor, we felt that we had to fix it (designer's touch and expect perfection ya know!).
Going back to base to fix a small job would have meant that we would have had to cancel a meeting with a new potential client. Luckily we had a plan.
We called on Jeff at www.alocalprinter.com and he helped us fix it on the spot. It wasn't a 5min job either as all he had was a finalised 300dpi print ready PDF - and not the working file.
Jeff is my Studio Director and is a star, as are all my directors and staff - it's fantastic of you to take the time to thank him here Kay, and I'm delighted he was able to help save the day
Ray - you do not come across genuine help everyday and when you do, they need to be given credit for. It may have taken Jeff 15mins to do but it saved an important meeting for me which I would have had to reschedule.
I cannot stand errors and I cannot stand a missed opportunity.
It also says a lot about Ray's management style. He told me a while ago (and in another place I think) that he's very hands off, but you don't get to run a successful business that way unless you've got it really well set up with some good and loyal employees.
Ray, you should write a managment book on how to do it.

I am a firm believer of "look after your staff and they will look after you".
I never did get my porche, pool table and an indoor swimming pool at my last place.
Neither did I - and it was my own business!

Maybe when I've retired - not enough hours in the day at this time
Thanks for your kind words John; I'm a great believer in the art of delegation - it empowers my team whilst freeing up my time to develop and grow the business
I totally agree in that, staff make a business guided by a great boss. It's all about give and take, supporting each other and sharing success. I had a fantastic team at Nursery and still keep in touch with them now - they were the best!
Well done to Ray's team
