Wilderness?? I actually said wildness...hence the comment about sedatives for the bird.

I think you're losing it - big time!

having had cats for 50 years seen so many rescued birds not make it apparently the shock makes there little hearts give out.

P.S don't let the cat see you giving the bird his dinner.

too late Alvin, and the bird really enjoyed it, good recommendation there Nickie!

Mind you, was not impressed this morning at ten to six when he started chirping and twittering! Ended up getting up after half an hour! It' like having a baby again!

Now gonna surf the net to see what age they can fly...

Lol, just when you thought your baby rearing days were over eh Sandra! Rather you than me! If you don't know how old it is now, how will you know how long it's going to take for it to start flying???

I reckon its about 4 wks old and its not a thrush cos its ma or pa came down to it on the patio this morning and it's a blackbird, but this once is speckled brown. It would appear to be a fledgling that has maybe left the nest, been tottering around in the bushes on the ground then my cat nabbed it.

Wouldn't they take it back to the nest then? Hmmm, I guess they can't pick it up to do that, what a shame? If you put it back in the nest yourself, would they reject it having been handled by humans? I'm not sure how it works with birds but I do know some animals reject offspring if it's been handled by people!
