Default what do you feed wild baby birds?

ok after my cat nabbed a baby thrush from it's nest yesterday, so I managed to retrieve it from it's mouth (as you do!) and this is the first one that has managed to recover and not die overnight.

So it's in a cat box, being fed wholemeal brown bread soggified in milk and water, fed into its mouth from a spoon and taking it happily.

it's too young to fly, so I will have to keep feeding it until it sprouts some tail feathers - any suggestions on what else to feed it in the meantime? What about mushed cherries of the cherry tree?

Just been reading some stuff Sandra and it seems cat food soaked in warm water until mushy and administered using an eyedropper is your best bet. They also say to be careful not to over feed it as they'll cry for food even when their bellys are full to bursting!!! Hope this helps!

aww ta very much Nickie! Got plenty of cat food in!

I dont think i've overfed him, it's only been small amounts and he stops taking it after a few drops. I'd say he's had about the equivalent of a teaspoon yesterday and one today.

well he's come on leaps and bounds today, much chirping and bobbing around compared to yesterday when he had a poorly leg which seems to have recovered.

The level of wildness determines the type and dosage of sedatives to give it. JK!

    Well done bird woman...

level of wilderness? in my garden? lol

we have a lot of birds nesting in the huge trees in my garden. Especially since the biggest is a fruit laden cherry tree! They scrap over cherries on the tree yet there's millions of them - cherries I mean......and hundreds of birds!
