Default Local Sports Team Sponsorship

Hi all,

Me and a few friends are looking at the possibility of starting a new local basketball team in our area, to do this we are going to need to attract a team sponsor, aside from the obvious benefits of their company logo on the kit and new website, is there anything else I can do to help attract new local sponsors?

Does anyone know of any larger companies that offer sports sponsorship? As I think getting it from local companies might prove more difficult?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Greg

On the other hand I think you are more likely to get local than national sponsorship. I suppose it largely depends on what amount you need. Presume they pay for the kit? You could also look at match day sponsors for as little as £25 a throw. OR offer the sponsor to be included in your team name, so they get free press whenever you get reported. Which firms are local to where you play or maybe supply the venue you use etc. Can you offer them the option to put up a baaner at your game or announce it in the press etc

I play for a local cricket club and for us its as much about match day sponsors/ball sponsors as kit sponsors - with a number of games played per season the £25 mount up and of course its easier to get people to part with a smaller sum.
