    Default Fireworks through the post!

    Hello,

I had a nightmare last night. I had kids put through firworks through the letter box. Which basically burnt some of the flooring, domadged some of the wall etc and set the fire alarm off. We have a two year old at home. We were lucky she was upstairs.

It could have been worse. This is what I hate about kids nowadays. They don't think. I am not that old, but we weren't that stupid. The police were called, but at the end of the day you are powerless to do anything about it unless you put a camera in front of your house and catch the kids.

    What would you do?

    Naughty? More like bloody lunatics

They have no idea of right and wrong. It's fine to shove fireworks through letter boxes, no worries to knock seven bells out of someone and it's all funky to carry a knife...

I might sound like an old fart but when I was that age I was terrified of the police and the worst I did was nick some lemonade from Sainsburys! It just really ticks me off that the justice system in this country allows kids to get away with this scot free most of the time. They then grow into adults (read thugs) still thinking they are invincible and above the law.

I personally think every child between the age of 14 -18 should do national service. I don't mean send them to a war zone just one weekend out of two they have to go to their local TA and get taught some discipline and respect.

It's the only way they will grow up and respect others rather than act like **** heads all their lives...

This is terrible, i would do a leaflet and post though some local doors seeing if anyone else had the same problem and if anyone knows anything about who did it - I'd also offer a reward to name and shame.

(I also wouldn't need the police after i found out who it was!!!)

Good tip about taping up your letterbox next year though

I agree totally with Phil. We were bad but not this stupid.

You don't know who is standing on the other side of the door.

The door is taped and I am going to get some kind of letter box, one of those internal ones.

However, my house and the next door's has been kicked for the last 7 odd years just for laughs every other day. Normally we just ignore that as you are pretty powerless even if you catch the kids. The worst thing in the UK is you can't really do much about it and the feeling of powerlessness is frustrating. Worst of all the parent's shouldn't be letting 10 year old out at night after 9 on their own. If you confront their children the parents will probably start a fight with you. I have seen that happen with one of my neighbours who decided to stand up. The parent's decide to let the kids lose and not worry about looking after or raising them properly. And then they wonder why all of a sudden their teenager is heading for a life of crime or jail or even worse a Jamie Bulger type of situation.
