    Default Dentist update

I hope that I don't live to regret posting this, but here goes

Yesterday I went to see my regular dentist whom upon examining the x-ray, said it was a deep filling, and I was unlucky that the nerve was pretty close, hence the pain when eating. However, the filling was good and the tooth healthy.

He has suggested root canal work to take out the nerve!!!! Now I really freaked out at this So my question is, has anyone else had a nerve taken out and if so (please be honest), was it really painful (apart from the expense). I'm told two half hour sessions are required

I think you want to worry about your jaw flapping everywhere and not being able to talk, after they pump you full of drugs lol

I've had it done. Not that bad. But I eventually lost that tooth in the end.

Whip em all out and get dentures put in.

That is what I plan to do when mine start to play up.

Yes it'll hurt a bit but nowhere near the pain you'll get if you have an abcess and still have to get it done, just don't lie about when the anaesthetic starts to work, make sure it really is numb before they start work.

    Good luck with it!

Never had it done, but if you are very nervous, you can ask for sedation

I feel alot of pain at the dendist so normally i have to ask for extra injections

Funny thing happened one year, Mrs Punchy phoned me just as i left and asked me to go to the deli counter at Tesco's to get some bacon, When i tried to speak, the girl on the counter said to her mate, "i think he's had a stroke"

I put their mind at rest when i told them i'd just been to the dentist

AND i couldn't eat my Bacon Sarnie

Still pretty nervous, but it seems having your nerve removed is not painful according to feedback

I just HATE sitting in that darn chair for more than it takes to do a check up. Two half hour sessions do rather fill me with dread

I agree there. Just having the x-ray gave me a jaw ache
