    Default Gino in Jungle mess!

It is obvious to any sensible person that the rats used in the jungle are in fact tame, so I was appalled when one was killed and eaten by Gino and Matt. However, in my opinion, it is the fault of ITV was forcing people into a state of hunger, so it is they who should face charges of cruelty.

Some of their so called games, are nothing short of cruelty and this year saw the contestants chomping on live insects! These are still living creatures and I for one find it extremely distasteful.

Wondered what your honest opinion was.

Are you a vegetarian ? If you're not, then you can have absolutely no reason whatsoever to complain. How is eating rat (which are seen as vermin) different from killing and eating a cow or sheep ?

    It all depend on circumstance.

(plus I will add I dont watch the show)

Killing and eating animals for entertainment purposes is bad!
Killing and eating animals for food is OK.

Interestingly our farm cats kill rats, but don't eat them! They can't taste very nice for that to happen!

Will, you obviously did not read my initial post.

I was actually stating that in my opinion it was the production crew who should have been charged with animal cruelty and NOT Gino and Matt.

Anyone who knows or works with animals would know that these rats are not wild. They should have stepped in straight away and prevented the animal being killed.

The other most important reason that these charges have brought is the way in which the rat was killed.

Yes, I am a vegetarian but I have no problem in people killing to eat. It is the entertainment factor that is wrong.

I think it is more wrong that people actually watch that load of rubbish!!!

As to the poor rat, until someone can confirm it was tame then they are killing for food, which is perfectly acceptable.

And until then there is nothing to discuss!!!

There was no mention of the rates being tame in the new stories on BBC website, but it's the fact they killed for entertainment value that it's being done for, as opposed for reasons of genuine hunger. At the end of the day, they could have left.

    Who, the rats?

Cannot say I agree or disagree with this action nor did I see it.

However, I think there are a tad more worrying things on my mind that whether or not a rat should have been killed...

Erm, so are they saying it is ok to kill wild rats but illegal to kill tame ones? What's the difference? The rats are still sentient beings, it's just a label we put on it.

no, the news hasnt said anything about the rats beiung wild or tame, just about killing an animal for entertainment value was the real concern.
