How does Freecycle work ?

You post a message on a yahoo groups saying "offered; Girvan; Huge amounts of various crap from my garage" And several hundred people reply saying "me, me, me" And then they turn up and take it all away for you.

I love it! All that stuff that you spend ages looking at thinking "i really must get around to shifting that!" All those old printers without drivers, cables and ink catridges, all those spare monitors etc. Gone!! And zilch effort!!

Yep, its that simple. I've used it several times in the past couple of weeks for various things. Last weekend we lifted approx 70-80 paving slabs from our patio, with my husband thinking it would be a nightmare to take them all to the tip. I advertised them on freecycle and within minutes I had about 15 people all wanting to take them off our hands! I uploaded a couple of pics so that they weren't under any illusions as to their condition and the next day, someone came and took them all away to re-use. Brilliant!!

I can beat that - I got my Mum & Dad to put up on freecycle their old paving slabs, and said that the taker had to lift them all up!!!
We still had 5 offers.
