Default Warning!

I am extremely worried about people buying puppies without first seeing their mother and preferably the father. Only the other day a client informed me the her sister had purchased a puppy at 6 weeks (far too young), without seeing the parent. After a few days the puppy presented typical signs of parvo virus and despite the vets best efforts, it died.

PLEASE do not buy a puppy under 8 weeks old, and ask to see the parents before even considering a viewing. It is not always possible to see both parents, but any reputable breeder, will be only to happy for you to see mum nursing her brood. The puppy should also have received their first vaccination and been wormed before they are collected. You should also be given a diet sheet and information from the breeder.

I would also ask that people spare a thought for the unwanted animals in rescue centres. Sadly, they have seen a sharp increase of unwanted pets since the credit crunch. If you can offer a dog, cat etc a new home, you need not look far to find your local centre.

Ireland is a breeding ground for puppy farms, and they are being shipped over to this country in appalling states. It's easy to feel sorry for a puppy that looks ill and forlorn, but remember, by buying them, you are further added to the cruelty and suffering of others :sad1:

Bit confused here Nina ,What do you think should happen to these puppies if they are not bought.?

Blatent plug for my pal Karen's rescue center.

Absolutely Gary, hence the post. Had no idea just how prevalent this was until speaking to my client. I know that someone on the forum was concerned about a puppy she had been offered. It really is awful :sad1:
