Default Gas and electricity?

I need to change our gas and electricity suppliers and would like recommendations please. I go on a number of forums and thought you lot would be the best to ask
I've narrowed it down to Scottish Power and Npower but they all seem as bad as each other for messing up bills and readings
SO any recommendations from you savvy bunch?

We are with Southern Electric - good prices - I went to www.uswitch.com and did a price comparison

I've been with several suppliers over the years and have always ended up going back to Npower every time. They might not be the cheapest but they have never ever got my bill wrong which is more than I can say for the rest. I was with British Gas for one month back in December 2005, I couldn't get through to their customer services at all despite trying every day at different times of the day so decided to cancel and go back to Npower. When the final bill came in for £642.24 for a months usage I nearly fell over. I refused to pay it of course and they threatened to take me to court to recover it so I ended up getting OFGEM involved. They apparently sorted it out but I am still getting bills from them to this day nearly 3 years later which I don't owe. Fed up of telling them now and got OFGEM involved yet again!!! The saga continues!!!

Hmm

I did a little experiment sometime ago, after a rumour I had heard about U-Switch.

I entered in that I was with British Gas for Gas and Electric, and put in my usage, their site told me to change to NPower, I then put in that I was with NPower, with the same readings, and they told me to change to someone else (I can't remember who at this time).

I had heard that they are paid by the companies to recommend them, so no matter if you are with the cheapest supplier they will recommend changing to another provider (not very independent!!!).

Also interestingly enough Utility Warehouse never feature in their recommendations, because they won't pay them, although having now swapped to them I found they were cheaper by far, have one bill, and do telephone, mobile and internet as well. In fact the more services you take, the better it is. Take gas, elecy, telephone and broadband and you get free daytime, evening and weekend calls on your landline.

They do domestic and business services, so well worth a look at (sorry to throw a spanner in the works!!).

Rob

Blimey, that sounds impressive!

im with Southern, always been pretty good. use them for gas and elec.

I think Npower are a little cheaper, but i hate their practices, they keep sending door knockers round telling me all the other companies are useless and they are gods of energy (or something like that, i stop listening after the word "hello") One thing that ensures i wont buy, is hard sell.
