Having lived in Germany for 9 years and visiting this quite outstanding piece of architecture...I never realised the above fact
2000 - A Russian submarine Kursk sank to the bottom of the Barrent Sea. There were 118 sailors on the nuclear-powered vessel. All of the crew were pronounced dead on August 22.
Remember the above like it was yesterday....what a horrible way to go...i remember distinctly the Russians denying the incident for days and refusing any offer of help

I remember that event too - they could hear the crew banging to say they were still alive - UK boats were nearby the the Russians refused their help. Willing to lose the entire crew than admit they had weapons they shouldn't have on board....
