Well, why not send as many Christmas ecards as you like for only £5.99, save a fortune, put your company name on the message and be green at the same time
I'm perfectly happy with this system. My eldest goes to secondary school next week and she is no good with money so this takes the hassle away. I will just be topping up her account and she doesn't have to worry about paying for things.
It stops children being bullied/beat up for their dinner money and children who have free school meals are no bullied/embarrassed because although it's the council that is paying for their meals there is no way to tell.
^^^ Good point Sarah , but still feel parents have a right to know prior

But is this really how you want your kids being brought up? to think that giving finger prints or iris scans is 'normal'? seems like the government can't bully us adults into it, so they're planning a more long term strategy... the way they're going our kids will live in a world that's a cross between '1984' and 'minority report'...
DNA samples routinely taken by police, the highest level of cctv camera surveillance in the world, number-plate recognition cameras at Manchester airport, 4-year olds being fingerprinted, etc etc - it's beyond a joke. The UK is now a Police State!
That is really surprising! Back when I was at school we just had a lunch card and when he had lunch we handed it over and it got swiped. (A bit like a credit card)
I'm not sure I would be happy with someone having my fingerprints...

I agree with this, and I see the point. I just think that it's a bit of a shame that we can't get the same results without fingerprinting our children.
Did you have any notification/discussion/permission required, or was it something that was implemented and you found out about retrospectively?
