How long before I can eat after having a filling?

I've had 2 fillings at the dentist this morning. Haven't had one in years and I wasnt sure how long before I can eat on that side of my mouth again. Does the filling need a certain legnth of time to set?

The anaesthetic has worn off now and im not thinking of eating any toffee just yet but in being sensible, is there a time limit?

You should be fine now but nothing too hot or too cold and try and eat on the other side of the mouth for now. I think after about 8 hours you should be fine to have anything.

It depends on what filling material they used. My last one I was told to leave it an hour, and i'd be good to eat as long as I wasn't too numb

Yeah make sure the drug HAS worn off, or you'll end up eating your tongue..

The dentist didnt say anything and I never thought to ask. The drug has worn off fully now.

It reminds me of a line on Men Behaving Badly, when Gary was having problems with a tooth......best episode ever I think.

lol that made me laugh. The top tooth is still senstive, was done 7hrs ago. I'll just eat on the other side for today. I had injections and he offered to do it without!
