I am having problems with my current web developers regarding an outstanding invoice, in respect of some SEO work which they have supposedly carried out. They want me to sign a personal guarantee in order to consider payments which I will not sign for obvious reasons.
I have asked them on a mumber of ocassions exactly what SEO work they have done although they did not guarantee results I did not expect to end up 6 months later with only 25 visitors to my site per day, I was getting this when the work started 6 months ago.
I cancelled the SEO work with them recently only to receive a private email from the SEO consultant who works for the agency, agreeing with me that I was right to cancel based on the fees that I was being charged and also wondered how I was going to pay for it all.
I feel terribly let down by them, which has caused my business and health to suffer.
The other problem is they are also hosting my site, I own the domain but want the move the hosting away from them.
Any advice on where I stand legally and what I can do now would be greatly appreciated.
Could you possibly move this to the legal section though to get advise on whether the bill should be paid. I am assuming if they are not prepared to say what work they have done then there is no reason to pay the bill but am only guessing.

Thank you all so much I am overwhelmed and touched by your comments kindness.
I have been advised not to communicate with the company until I am sure of my legal postion over the outstanding amount, the money I have already paid and transfer of the hosting, as it is I do not have a copy of the site and neither do I have ftp access.
