I have a query about the passing on of a personal email address without consent.

How was the email address obtained by you? Why is it you need to pass it on to a third party?

Hi Phil - I don't need to pass anyone's email address on. I am trying to understand whether someone has breached the DPA with what they have done with my email address.

Ah OK, I though you needed to pass an email addy on yourself...

So how did the person who passed your email address on obtain it and under what circumstances? Mailing list?

Also is there a specific reason why you feel aggrieved that it has been passed on or are you just annoyed that it's happened?

It was supplied to a booking agent. The booking agent passed it on to the supplier without my consent. The conditions state that they may pass on your 'booking reference' but does not specify that they will pass on personal details.

And yes, there is a specific reason why I am cross. But I also want to understand if this is acceptable behaviour under the DPA or not.

Unless you specifically agreed that they could pass on your details to 3rd parties to recieve further information then I would have said yes it was a breach.
