Advice perlease......I have been pursing a debt for a few months, after incurring extra costs with solicitors fee's with issuing an unsuccessful judgement, I have run out of options. I can spend an extra £100.00 to send in bailiffs and get a ccj or drop it! I'm REALLY not happy!

I want to name and shame this person who thinks its perfectly okay to order items USE them and not pay for them . Where do I stand it writing to his local paper advising of his antics (I’m willing to pay for a full page spread - in colour!). I also want to go on every forum that would possible use this idiot and put his details on. He found our details from a recommendation from the MOD who he does work for, we have contacts in several branches and I want to let them know what he has done.

Hello Missdetermination, sorry to hear about your challenge.

When you say you had an unsuccessful judgment, can you clarify a little more on this? If a court has said the money is not owed, then the name and shame route might not be the best route to go down as the person can point to a court judgment. Whilst a newspaper is unlikely to carry an ad of the nature that you described, you could be found liable for any comment in print or voice that is detrimental to your debtor.

Also how much is the debt? I know you probably do not want to hear this, but sometimes it is best to dust ourselves down, get up and focus on our business rather than use your resources chasing what might be a lost cause.

I know this is not particularly helpful, I just wanted to find out a little more before offering some other advice. Sometimes after we have counted to 10, it is easier to make better business decisions that when we have the red mist.

I do have empathy with you, bad debts are crushing small businesses. Often it is the larger companies who are putting the squeeze on.

Hey, thank you for your reply. I Know you are right and I should let it go - I proberly wouldnt be so angry if we hadnt done this person a favour too and paid £25.00 for a Sat delivery and rushed his order through as previously he had been a really good customer - the cheeky git also went on holiday no doubt with my money when we called for payment! His postcode also points to a seemingly nice area by the sea - nice for some!!!! The debt if only for £230.00 which on top of this I have to pay the solicitors as they were unable to get him to pay and ofset the cost, its more the principal than anything else thats getting to me and my very high morals

The debtor hasnt completed his form sent by the court to acknowledge/deny etc, and when I asked my solictor she said he could just carry on ignoring this and nothing would be done. The next step is baliffs, but they can't force an entry at a residential address - which his is!

This is so difficult. My initial response is also to name and shame, and I certainly dont have any objection to doing so in the right circumstances.

But, regretably, you have to take a long term and calm view, difficult when someone has stitched you up.

However, obviously, you would accept no more assignments from this person!
