I am with homeexec.
I have in the past tried MLM and have had little success, but these were promoting companies that were involved in the little 'fads' I had when I first started trying to earn money from the internet - ie the old spedia ad bar stuff (advertising bar in the sys tray), downline clubs, paid to read email crap - infact the schemes I tried were probably a more pyramid shaped than MLM
The only thing I have tried as MLM I spose was the better ware catalogues where I tried to get other people to get rounds and distribute stuff for a % of the comission.
Either way nothing has worked better for me than affiliate marketing.
Your not limited to a product or company. You can adapt more easily with whats in demand by the consumer.
I tend to watch TV and read papers and think of the search queries that 'consumer' would make to find items to buy - and if any manufacturers/companys/shops are not advertising it then I find a program that will pay me for it and get their links up.
IMO - in MLM you have to be in one of the first tiers to actually make anything, so unless you thought of the idea yourslef or your best mates with them your not going to be in that position. With affiliate marketing, you have a good chance of finding a nich with your own self deduction - which makes you the number one to think of it, ie the top of the chain.
If you want residual income - maybe look at promoting bingo, gambling, sportsbook programs?
