yes i tink ites very important to keep work seperate from normal house chores. I work from home and i have my seperate area (home office) where i work without worrying about the daily chores. It takes time to get used to it, but it does work. Nice clean area is perfect for working home mom/dads.

Yeah - I have even been known to 'communte' to work in my home office by walking to the postbox or something and coming back to my office, not my home (even though one is in the other) just to get some psychological distance'. Sounds silly but it helps (especially as the postbox was a chore for the day anyway! )

You are very right of your rule of thumb that if the office door is shut kids will never come... and we can only cut our taxes by this way...

I have a studio in the garden - a garage extension. An insulated shed or garden office would work just as well, but I use the garage for storage, and can back my car in to load up for a craft show. Helpful when it's pouring down.

I must admit I do still spill into the house sometimes. Organisation is probably key, but I do understand totally when you say "you know what creative types are like".
