I must say that's what I miss....good old office banter.

I used to work and Scottish and Newcastle Brewery in Newcastle and the banter was rife...

I'm lucky enough to be living in Tynemouth ( Google Earth it )

And literally a couple of minutes I've got a nice work down to the riverside.

Spent about an hour today, walked to fish quay in North Shields. Bought lovely ( 1 inch thick ) fresh smoked haddock and prawn fish cakes.

Walked back down the river, up past the Tynemouth priory and through town to get some fresh bread buns from the bakers. Then back home.

Sitting here all re-charged and getting ready for a meeting in Newcastle tonight.

Whether working from home or not, running a business can be just so absorbing and all consuming, that it is easy to forget anything else exists. Over the years many of my 9 -5 friends (I mean the one's that can switch off and forget about work at the end of the day) struggle to understand the "Sorry mate, I haven't got time" routine.

I think for those running a business and those that 'go to work' there is quite a divide of understanding, which is why most of the friends I have today tend to be other business owners.

When I first started I joined a local networking group, more for the social side and meeting like-minded people than the referrals I got. Instead of shopping at Tesco's (evil place) why don't you go to your local shops and markets and as well as supporting your fellow local business folk you will meet some great people too.

IP2 I frequently phone people up in the middle of the day and get told they are at lunch - I've forgotten what a lunch break is!!

    Yes Tigglet,

Even I am feeling the same. I feel like I have gone far from the outside world.

yes definitely there should be a separation between the two, your home life and your work life...it should not be mixed...

I prefer to work far from home *not that far though* I feel more relaxed if I will work on a different place.

Browsing forums – isn’t so much as break for me as it’s still using a computer.
I always make sure I take a lunch and that’s not just because I like my food! I go for a walk, fresh air (well sort of) get some light, see humans walking about!
Then it’s back to the computer for the evening shift

sounds like a cliche but you need to get the work life balance in order - what is it you do?
