Whether working from home or not, running a business can be just so absorbing and all consuming, that it is easy to forget anything else exists. Over the years many of my 9 -5 friends (I mean the one's that can switch off and forget about work at the end of the day) struggle to understand the "Sorry mate, I haven't got time" routine.
I think for those running a business and those that 'go to work' there is quite a divide of understanding, which is why most of the friends I have today tend to be other business owners.
When I first started I joined a local networking group, more for the social side and meeting like-minded people than the referrals I got. Instead of shopping at Tesco's (evil place) why don't you go to your local shops and markets and as well as supporting your fellow local business folk you will meet some great people too.
IP2 I frequently phone people up in the middle of the day and get told they are at lunch - I've forgotten what a lunch break is!!

I find it impossible to switch off!! I am now looking at an office, so when i leave, my brain can stop! Another thing with "work at Home" is that i find you actually get phone calls at 9.30-10.00 at NIGHT!!! There as bad as me!! blimey heck!!
Browsing forums – isn’t so much as break for me as it’s still using a computer.
I always make sure I take a lunch and that’s not just because I like my food! I go for a walk, fresh air (well sort of) get some light, see humans walking about!
Then it’s back to the computer for the evening shift
